The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students and families to achieve excellent attendance and wellbeing. This is a key position in ensuring that every child feels included, safe, and ready to learn. Your work will have a direct impact on student success and family support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and monitor student attendance, ensuring consistent engagement and participation in learning.
  • Provide pastoral support to students and their families, addressing barriers to attendance and wellbeing.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, parents, and school staff to foster a supportive environment.
  • Work closely with other school departments to develop and implement strategies for improving attendance.
  • Conduct regular home visits and communicate effectively with families to understand and address attendance concerns.
  • Develop and deliver targeted interventions to support students at risk of poor attendance.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on attendance data and student progress.
  • Stay up to date with safeguarding and welfare policies to ensure the highest standards of care and support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in attendance support, pastoral care, or working with children and families.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
  • Experience in identifying and addressing barriers to attendance and learning.

Preferred

  • Experience in education or social care settings.
  • Knowledge of child development and behaviour management.
  • Experience with early help or family support services.
  • Familiarity with attendance improvement strategies and interventions.
  • Experience with safeguarding and welfare procedures.
