The Opportunity:

Join a school's dynamic team as an Audio Visual Technician Apprentice, supporting a wide range of events and performances. This hands-on role provides valuable training and experience in audio visual technology, theatre, and live events, with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio visual and performing arts equipment across the school
  • Assist with drama, dance, and whole school events, productions, exams, and presentations
  • Help design and programme sound and lighting for events and performances
  • Support rigging, layout changes, and technical preparation across multiple spaces
  • Assist with routine equipment checks, maintenance, and Portable Appliance Testing
  • Help monitor stock, stores, and day-to-day technical resources
  • Support health and safety standards within performance and theatre spaces
  • Assist with set building, painting, prop making, and event setup

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or above, or willingness to complete Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship
  • A genuine interest in audio visual technology, theatre, or live events
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to take direction
  • Reliability, good organisation skills, and attention to detail
  • The physical capability to undertake manual handling, work at height, and use technical equipment safely

Preferred

  • An interest or basic knowledge of lighting, sound, IT systems, set building, or live performance
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • A commitment to personal development and learning new skills

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Apprenticeship pay scale
  • 37.5 hours per week, over a 24-month programme
