The Opportunity:
Join a school's dynamic team as an Audio Visual Technician Apprentice, supporting a wide range of events and performances. This hands-on role provides valuable training and experience in audio visual technology, theatre, and live events, with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio visual and performing arts equipment across the school
- Assist with drama, dance, and whole school events, productions, exams, and presentations
- Help design and programme sound and lighting for events and performances
- Support rigging, layout changes, and technical preparation across multiple spaces
- Assist with routine equipment checks, maintenance, and Portable Appliance Testing
- Help monitor stock, stores, and day-to-day technical resources
- Support health and safety standards within performance and theatre spaces
- Assist with set building, painting, prop making, and event setup
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or above, or willingness to complete Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship
- A genuine interest in audio visual technology, theatre, or live events
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to take direction
- Reliability, good organisation skills, and attention to detail
- The physical capability to undertake manual handling, work at height, and use technical equipment safely
Preferred
- An interest or basic knowledge of lighting, sound, IT systems, set building, or live performance
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
- A commitment to personal development and learning new skills
Compensation & Benefits:
- Apprenticeship pay scale
- 37.5 hours per week, over a 24-month programme
