The Opportunity:
As the Head of PE, you will lead and inspire a highly motivated team, driving the school’s outstanding PE and sports programme. This role offers the chance to shape the academic and sporting future of young people, ensuring excellence in both curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the PE department, ensuring high-quality teaching and student engagement.
- Develop and implement a dynamic PE curriculum that aligns with the school’s academic and sporting goals.
- Supervise and support a team of experienced PE teachers and coaches.
- Oversee the delivery of competitive sporting opportunities, including national competitions and fixtures.
- Promote inclusivity and ensure all students have access to sporting and physical activity.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate PE with academic learning and personal development.
- Monitor and report on student progress, participation, and achievement in PE and sports.
- Represent the school at external events, competitions, and partnerships.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a PE or sports department.
- Strong academic background in Physical Education or a related field.
- Experience in delivering high-quality PE and sports provision at a senior level.
- Demonstrated success in developing and managing a large team of teachers and coaches.
- In-depth knowledge of national sports competitions and fixtures.
- Commitment to promoting inclusivity and student well-being through sport.
Preferred
- Experience in coaching at national or international level.
- Background in academic PE, including GCSE and A-level teaching.
- Familiarity with university pathways in sports-related disciplines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in leading departmental development and innovation.
