The Opportunity:

As a School Nurse, you will play a crucial role in supporting the health and wellbeing of students and staff across multiple school sections. You will provide medical care, manage health records, and ensure a safe and supportive environment for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage pupils’ health needs, delivering medical care and maintaining accurate health records.
  • Provide emergency care, triage, and first aid for pupils and staff, administering prescribed and authorised medication.
  • Support pupils with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and life-threatening allergies.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for pupils requiring emotional support, liaising sensitively with parents and staff.
  • Contribute to health education and deliver training on first aid, medical awareness, and infection control.
  • Oversee individual medical profiles and health information through iSAMS, ensuring staff are well informed.
  • Manage medical supplies and equipment, maintaining first aid provision for trips and events.
  • Ensure the Welfare Centre is welcoming, organised, and compliant with all health and safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Registered nurse with RGN, RSCN, or RN qualification and current NMC registration.
  • Current First Aid qualification and understanding of modern first aid practice.
  • Experience as a PCT School Nurse or Practice Nurse.
  • Experience in an educational setting.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting pupils with mental health needs, including eating disorders.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, and ICT skills.
  • Confidence in working with children and young people.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work sensitively with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
