Autism Lecturer needed at a specialist college for autistic young people aged 16–25.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with learners and tailor your approach to meet their individual needs.
  • Support learners through everyday challenges and sensitive conversations with empathy, professionalism, and respect.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing and create a safe, inclusive environment that fosters confidence and independence.
  • Help learners set and achieve personal, social, and educational goals, providing consistent guidance and support.
  • Prepare learners for life beyond college, including further education, employment, and greater independence in their communities.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated and passionate staff team to deliver high-quality, learner-centred practice.
  • Contribute to a culture of reflection, consistency, and continuous professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with autistic young people in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with learners and colleagues.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Experience in developing and delivering learner-centred support plans.
  • Understanding of personal development planning and preparing learners for life beyond college.

Preferred

  • Experience in promoting emotional wellbeing and supporting positive mental health in learners.
  • Knowledge of the Ambitious Approach to education or similar person-centred methods.
  • Experience with teaching and supporting learners with a range of additional needs.
  • Background in education or training, ideally within specialist autism settings.
