The Opportunity:

As Head of Year 12, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students during their transition to adulthood, ensuring they are well-prepared for higher education and future careers. This role is ideal for an experienced pastoral leader or sixth form teacher with a passion for student development and a commitment to academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the pastoral and academic development of a year group of approximately 60 students.
  • Ensure a smooth induction process for students joining from external schools.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to support academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance student performance and engagement.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in making informed decisions about their future pathways.
  • Monitor and address the well-being and behavior of students within the year group.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to implement school-wide initiatives and policies.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters respect and academic excellence.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral leadership or sixth form teaching role.
  • Strong subject expertise in maths, sciences, or vocational subjects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and support a year group effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s vision of high achievement and personalized learning.

Preferred

  • Experience in a sixth form setting or with pastoral leadership.
  • Familiarity with university preparation and career guidance.
  • Experience with students transitioning from external schools.
  • Knowledge of teaching English as a Second Language (ESOL) or similar subjects.
