The Opportunity:
As a Supported Internship Lecturer, you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality supported internship programme that empowers autistic young people to gain essential skills, confidence, and independence. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education and committed to helping learners progress into paid employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a supported internship curriculum aligned with learner needs and employment outcomes
- Teach, coach, and support learners on-site at a real-world workplace environment
- Provide course leadership to ensure learners achieve personal goals and move towards sustained paid work
- Act as the daily point of contact for employers, learners, families, and college teams
- Ensure the smooth and safe running of the supported internship programme
- Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records for quality assurance
- Collaborate with college teams and external partners to support learner success
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience teaching, training, or supporting young people with additional needs, particularly autism and/or learning disabilities
- Knowledge of supported internships, employability, or vocational education
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently on-site while collaborating effectively with college teams
- Commitment to high expectations and positive employment outcomes for learners
Preferred
- Experience working with autistic young people in a supported internship or employment setting
- Familiarity with inclusive education and person-centred approaches
- Experience with curriculum design or course leadership
