The Opportunity:

As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students with behavioural, emotional, and safeguarding needs. This position offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students through a therapeutic and structured approach to behaviour management and emotional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students experiencing behavioural, emotional, and safeguarding difficulties through a boundaried yet therapeutic approach.
  • Work closely with the Special Educational Needs Department to ensure a consistent and fair approach to student support.
  • Develop and implement positive behaviour modification systems to help students build constructive coping strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with families to ensure a consistent approach to managing student behaviour and associated risks.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to promote equal opportunity, diversity, and a supportive learning environment.
  • Encourage student independence, self-awareness, and personal responsibility.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to help students grow in maturity and understanding of the world around them.
  • Contribute to the school’s mission of enabling students to reach their full potential academically and personally.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with behavioural and emotional difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, families, and other support departments.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of students.
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional support techniques.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Training or experience in therapeutic or pastoral care.
  • Experience with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Experience with positive behaviour support systems.
