The Opportunity:

As a Safeguarding Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. This is a key position within a dedicated team that prioritizes safeguarding as a shared responsibility, with a culture of vigilance and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and triage incoming safeguarding concerns with professionalism and care.
  • Coordinate with the 14 Deputy DSLs to ensure timely and effective referrals.
  • Document concerns factually and evidence-led, keeping the child’s voice at the center.
  • Advocate for a "Think Family" approach, considering the impact of adult stressors on student behavior.
  • Collaborate closely with Counsellors, Health Centre staff, Pastoral team, and SENCo.
  • Promote a culture of safety across both boarding and day provision.
  • Provide support and guidance to students, ensuring their well-being is a priority.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in safeguarding or child protection.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to the principle that "it could and does happen here."
  • Evidence of professional curiosity and attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a boarding school or similar educational setting.
  • Knowledge of CPOMS and other safeguarding referral systems.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
  • Background in counseling or related fields.
  • Experience with child welfare and family support services.
