The Opportunity:
As a Safeguarding Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. This is a key position within a dedicated team that prioritizes safeguarding as a shared responsibility, with a culture of vigilance and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and triage incoming safeguarding concerns with professionalism and care.
- Coordinate with the 14 Deputy DSLs to ensure timely and effective referrals.
- Document concerns factually and evidence-led, keeping the child’s voice at the center.
- Advocate for a "Think Family" approach, considering the impact of adult stressors on student behavior.
- Collaborate closely with Counsellors, Health Centre staff, Pastoral team, and SENCo.
- Promote a culture of safety across both boarding and day provision.
- Provide support and guidance to students, ensuring their well-being is a priority.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in safeguarding or child protection.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to the principle that "it could and does happen here."
- Evidence of professional curiosity and attention to detail.
Preferred
- Experience working in a boarding school or similar educational setting.
- Knowledge of CPOMS and other safeguarding referral systems.
- Experience with pastoral care and student support.
- Background in counseling or related fields.
- Experience with child welfare and family support services.
