As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining a positive and purposeful learning environment. This position is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students, de-escalating challenging situations, and working closely with staff to ensure every student is ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol key areas of the school to uphold high standards and ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Use restorative techniques to de-escalate and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the Pastoral Team, and students to support academic and personal development.
  • Build positive relationships with students while maintaining firm boundaries and expectations.
  • Accurately record and report incidents to support student welfare and track progress.
  • Support students in returning to lessons with a "ready to learn" mindset.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and safeguarding in all interactions.
  • Engage effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a positive school culture.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with young people in education, sports coaching, or youth work.
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in high-pressure situations.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and academic success.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in behaviour management and conflict resolution.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with restorative practices and behaviour support strategies.
  • Experience with safeguarding and equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Background in pastoral care or student support.
