The Opportunity:

As an SEN Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering a broad and engaging curriculum tailored to the needs of students aged 11 to 19. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualised teaching across a range of subjects in line with the school’s curriculum.
  • Support students with moderate learning difficulties and associated needs, including speech and communication difficulties, autism, and sensory impairments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and carers to develop and implement personalised learning plans.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the school’s culture of continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing detailed feedback to support learning outcomes.
  • Promote the emotional wellbeing and social competence of students through targeted interventions and activities.
  • Work closely with the school’s leadership team to ensure all students achieve their full potential.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in SEN education.
  • Proven ability to teach across a range of subjects.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and the needs of students with moderate learning difficulties and associated needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and personal development.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting that collaborates with mainstream education.
  • Familiarity with performing arts and expressive arts provision.
  • Background in working with students who have autism or sensory impairments.
  • Experience in developing and delivering individualised learning plans.
