The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant SENDCo, you will provide vital support to students with special educational needs and disabilities, helping them achieve their full potential. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people through tailored interventions and classroom support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with special educational needs and disabilities across academic, emotional, and social areas.
- Deliver targeted intervention sessions, including small group and one-to-one support, focusing on literacy development.
- Work closely with the SENDCo and other staff to implement whole-school strategies for student wellbeing.
- Assist in mainstream classrooms, primarily with students in Years 7 to 9, but across all year groups.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of structured literacy programmes.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to support.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A recognised qualification such as NVQ, NNEB, City & Guilds or BTEC at Level 3.
- Experience in delivering small group or one-to-one interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students of all ages and abilities.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
Preferred
- Experience in working with students with English as an Additional Language.
- Experience of leading or assisting in the delivery of literacy-based programmes.
- Familiarity with SEND policies and procedures.
- Previous experience in a school setting, particularly within a pastoral or support role.
