The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging, and inspirational Biology lessons to students of all abilities.
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the specific needs of students and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Support students in achieving their academic goals and provide pastoral care where required.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the department.
  • Participate in the wider life of the school, including co-curricular activities and events.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Engage with parents and the wider community to promote the school’s mission and values.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s curriculum and pedagogical practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Biology or currently working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, ideally with a degree in the subject.
  • Commitment to the school’s mission of social mobility and providing equal opportunities for all students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and take responsibility for student outcomes.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching at sixth form level or with students preparing for A levels.
  • Experience with pastoral care and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technology in the classroom.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
