The Opportunity:

As the Head of PE, you will lead and inspire a team dedicated to promoting physical education and student wellbeing. You will play a key role in shaping a dynamic and engaging PE curriculum that supports the school’s mission of excellence and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the PE department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive PE curriculum aligned with the school’s educational goals.
  • Support student development through extracurricular activities and sporting opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate PE with other areas of the curriculum.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Promote a culture of physical activity and healthy lifestyles within the school community.
  • Represent the school at events, competitions, and community activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, health and safety standards, and safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience in teaching Physical Education across key stages
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality teaching and learning
  • Commitment to student success and holistic development

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team
  • Knowledge of current PE pedagogy and best practices
  • Experience with extracurricular sports and physical activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for promoting physical education and student wellbeing
