The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Built Environment Lecturer to deliver engaging and practical teaching across a range of courses. This role offers an opportunity to share real-world industry knowledge and inspire the next generation of construction professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach on a wide range of full and part-time courses in line with curriculum specifications
  • Contribute to the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the curriculum
  • Prepare and mark assessments for all programmes timetabled
  • Promote and deliver Basic / Key Skills to students
  • Improve attendance, punctuality, retention, and achievement in teaching groups
  • Produce timely and detailed student reports and references
  • Participate in student interviews, enrolment, and open days
  • Work collaboratively within a team and attend all meetings
  • Support the institution’s ILT strategy and maintain the intranet site
  • Stay up to date with curriculum initiatives and industry developments
  • Ensure teaching materials are comprehensive and support differentiated learning
  • Apply inclusive learning practices across all activities
  • Continuously develop professional knowledge and skills

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Teaching qualification or willingness to pursue one
  • HNC or higher qualification in a relevant built environment field
  • Experience teaching within the subject area
  • Practical or industrial experience in construction or built environment disciplines

Preferred

  • Degree or relevant professional qualification (e.g., HNC/D)
  • Experience with teaching English as a Second Language
  • Knowledge of software such as Promonitor, Goldmine, and student record systems
  • Familiarity with VLEs and e-learning platforms
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
