The Opportunity:
As a Business Development Executive, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining relationships with employers, promoting the school’s apprenticeship and training programmes, and supporting the growth of the institution’s external partnerships. This role is ideal for someone with a sales-driven mindset and a passion for workforce development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers to support apprenticeship recruitment and workforce development needs
- Proactively identify and engage new employers to grow apprenticeship starts and raise awareness of the school’s full range of training solutions
- Deliver employer presentations, proposals, and detailed breakdowns of funding and pricing information
- Conduct training need analyses and workforce planning discussions to align employer needs with the school’s offerings
- Support employers with apprenticeship levy and funding guidance to ensure compliance and successful onboarding
- Prepare monthly reports on new business development achievements and maintain accurate records using CRM systems
- Represent the school at external events and contribute to college recruitment events and promotional activities
- Support the development of new apprenticeship programmes in response to market demand and skills gaps
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum Level 4 qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Business Studies
- GCSE standard in English and Maths
- Proven experience in sales, business development, or employer engagement with a track record of developing business with employers
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent organisational and CRM/IT skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to employer sites
- Strong understanding of apprenticeships, vocational training, and workforce development
- Excellent attention to detail and presentation skills
- Ability to interpret data accurately and negotiate with external customers
Preferred
- Experience working in a further education college or training provider
- Background in the training or skills sector
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant field, such as Business Studies
- Experience with employer engagement and sales pipeline management
- Knowledge of LMI data and apprenticeship funding rules
