The Opportunity:

As a Student Safety Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure and inclusive environment for all learners, staff and visitors. This is a key position within a school that prioritises student wellbeing, safeguarding and the promotion of positive behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety, wellbeing and care of learners, staff, visitors and the school premises
• Support the management and recording of incidents, including reviewing CCTV and liaising with the Safeguarding team
• Identify low-level concerns early and take timely action to prevent escalation
• Conduct searches of students for prohibited items in a lawful, respectful and trauma-informed manner
• Monitor and manage student behaviour, protect people from harm, and ensure the safety of the school environment
• Provide excellent customer service to staff, students and visitors
• Patrol the school grounds to maintain a visible and reassuring presence
• Support the implementation of policies such as no smoking and ID badge requirements
• Liaise with emergency services when required and manage dangerous driving incidents
• Contribute to the elimination of unlawful discrimination and promote equality and diversity
• Support the Student Safety Team through leadership, budget control and team development

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Good literacy and numeracy skills (minimum level 2)
• Education to a level 3 standard
• Valid driving licence
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Preferred

• Emergency First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain it
• Safeguarding training
• SIA licence in security guarding or willingness to be trained
• Conflict Management & Use of Force training
• Security Services Qualification
