The Opportunity:

As a Business Lecturer, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and practical learning experiences to students across a range of programmes. You will inspire and challenge students, helping them develop the skills needed for future success in business, apprenticeships, or higher education. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver consistently high-quality, engaging teaching that inspires, challenges, and motivates all students to achieve their potential.
  • Teach complex and challenging concepts using a range of methods to support long-term understanding and confident application.
  • Take ownership of student outcomes, including attendance, achievement, and preparation for university, competitive careers, or further study.
  • Provide opportunities for students to excel beyond the curriculum through external showcases and competitions.
  • Create and maintain high-quality teaching resources, schemes of work, and assessment plans.
  • Conduct effective initial assessments to plan inclusive, adaptive teaching that responds to SEND needs and individual barriers.
  • Track and analyse student performance data, setting and reviewing SMART targets to support improvement and achievement.
  • Use formative and summative assessment to guide students and refine teaching practice, providing clear, timely feedback.
  • Support student behaviour and wellbeing, offering structured support and challenge when expectations are not met.
  • Build and maintain industry and employer links to enhance learning and inform curriculum updates.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant subject qualification at or above the level taught.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed/DTLLS) or commitment to achieving one.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or a commitment to obtain Level 2 Functional Skills.

Preferred

  • Up-to-date subject and industry knowledge informed by current practice, research, and employer requirements.
  • Ability to design and deliver high-quality, well-sequenced curriculum using effective pedagogy and digital technologies.
  • Ability to plan and deliver inclusive learning that supports all students, including those with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex ideas effectively.
  • Organised and efficient, with the ability to manage time and priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to motivate and coach students, building confidence, independence, and positive behaviour.
  • Professional and ethical, modelling safe practice and high expectations.
