The Opportunity:
As a Maths Lecturer, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality GCSE and Functional Skills provision to a diverse range of learners. You will help students build confidence in numeracy, develop problem-solving skills, and achieve their qualifications, supporting their progression to further education, apprenticeships, or employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistently high-quality, engaging teaching that inspires, challenges, and motivates all students to achieve their potential.
- Teach complex and challenging concepts using a range of methods to support long-term understanding and confident application.
- Take ownership of delivering excellent student outcomes, including attendance, achievement, and progression to high-quality destinations.
- Provide opportunities for students to excel beyond the taught curriculum through external showcases and competitions.
- Create and maintain high-quality schemes of work, assessment plans, and teaching resources.
- Conduct effective initial assessments to identify starting points and plan inclusive, adaptive teaching.
- Track, analyse, and act on performance data, setting and reviewing individual SMART targets to support improvement and achievement.
- Support students in developing positive behaviour and wellbeing, providing timely and structured support.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant subject qualification at or above the level taught.
- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed/DTLLS) or commitment to achieving one.
- GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or a commitment to obtain Level 2 Functional Skills alongside the post.
Preferred
- Up-to-date subject and industry knowledge informed by current practice and research.
- Ability to design and deliver high-quality curriculum using effective pedagogy and digital technologies.
- Experience in planning and delivering inclusive learning for students with diverse needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas effectively.
- Experience in building and maintaining industry and community links.
