The Opportunity:

As a Maths Lecturer, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality GCSE and Functional Skills provision to a diverse range of learners. You will help students build confidence in numeracy, develop problem-solving skills, and achieve their qualifications, supporting their progression to further education, apprenticeships, or employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver consistently high-quality, engaging teaching that inspires, challenges, and motivates all students to achieve their potential.
  • Teach complex and challenging concepts using a range of methods to support long-term understanding and confident application.
  • Take ownership of delivering excellent student outcomes, including attendance, achievement, and progression to high-quality destinations.
  • Provide opportunities for students to excel beyond the taught curriculum through external showcases and competitions.
  • Create and maintain high-quality schemes of work, assessment plans, and teaching resources.
  • Conduct effective initial assessments to identify starting points and plan inclusive, adaptive teaching.
  • Track, analyse, and act on performance data, setting and reviewing individual SMART targets to support improvement and achievement.
  • Support students in developing positive behaviour and wellbeing, providing timely and structured support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant subject qualification at or above the level taught.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed/DTLLS) or commitment to achieving one.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or a commitment to obtain Level 2 Functional Skills alongside the post.

Preferred

  • Up-to-date subject and industry knowledge informed by current practice and research.
  • Ability to design and deliver high-quality curriculum using effective pedagogy and digital technologies.
  • Experience in planning and delivering inclusive learning for students with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas effectively.
  • Experience in building and maintaining industry and community links.
