The Opportunity:

As Capital Projects Manager, you will lead the delivery of ambitious estate developments and improvement projects across a multi-site campus, ensuring exceptional spaces for pupils, staff, and the wider school community. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to shape the school’s long-term development and make a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver a diverse programme of capital projects, from planning and procurement through to contractor management and final delivery.
  • Coordinate projects that enhance the learning environment while ensuring works are delivered efficiently, safely, on time and within budget.
  • Oversee the school’s planned preventative maintenance programme across multiple sites to ensure the estate remains safe and compliant.
  • Work closely with senior leaders, external consultants, and contractors to see projects through from concept to completion.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, prioritise works, and ensure projects progress in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to day-to-day school life during project delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the school, contractors, and external consultants.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience of managing capital projects, estates works, or maintenance programmes within a busy operational environment.
  • Strong project management capability with a recognised qualification such as Prince2 or equivalent.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Confidence in working with senior leaders, contractors, and colleagues across the school.
  • Good understanding of health and safety standards.

Preferred

  • Experience in the education, property, facilities, construction, or a similar sector.
  • Ability to combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality environments that support staff, pupils, and the wider school community.
