The Opportunity:
As Head of Careers and Employability, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of senior year pupils through expert careers guidance. You will lead key initiatives such as the annual careers convention, manage internship programmes, and support students through the UCAS application process. This role offers the chance to make a real impact on student outcomes and career pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and delivery of the annual careers convention and related events.
- Manage the internship programme for sixth form leavers, including work experience opportunities and psychometric testing.
- Support tutors with the UCAS process, including editing personal statements and references.
- Organise and speak at after-school events for parents on careers-related topics.
- Coordinate networking events for popular career areas.
- Oversee the interviewing process for Year 11 students.
- Ensure quality control in all aspects of careers and higher education support.
- Work closely with the Director of Higher Education to deliver effective support for students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience of managing a careers and higher education support service in a school or sixth form environment.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Experience with UCAS application processes and personal statement editing.
Preferred
- Experience in event planning and management.
- Knowledge of psychometric testing and interview processes.
- Experience with careers guidance in a school setting.
- Familiarity with internships and work experience programmes.
- Strong understanding of current trends in careers and employability.
