The Opportunity:

As a Careers and Community Liaison Officer, you will lead the development of a dynamic careers program that supports students in exploring higher education and career opportunities. You will build relationships with key stakeholders and ensure that all students receive the guidance they need to succeed. This role is central to helping students and families thrive together.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a careers provision that exceeds Gatsby benchmarks and provides students with regular exposure to higher education and career opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with universities, public sector organisations, and businesses to support student aspirations and progression.
  • Ensure students are regularly engaged with role models from diverse backgrounds, including female, Black, and minority ethnic achievers in STEM and Arts fields.
  • Collaborate with teachers, middle leaders, form tutors, YLCs, and SLT to embed careers education across the curriculum and support post-16 transitions.
  • Work closely with the SLT and community lead to ensure families are fully engaged with the community learning program and feel supported.
  • Promote inclusivity and ensure all students and families have access to opportunities that reflect their aspirations and potential.
  • Coordinate events and programs that connect students, families, and the wider community to enhance learning and personal development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in careers guidance or community engagement within an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and relationship-building skills with schools, businesses, and community organisations.
  • Experience in developing and delivering careers programs that meet national standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, leaders, and families to support student progression.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with diverse student groups, including those from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of STEM and Arts sectors, and experience working with role models in these areas.
  • Experience in managing and coordinating large-scale events or programs.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices and support for special educational needs.
