Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the Chemistry department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
• Inspire and motivate students across all key stages, from KS3 to KS5.
• Manage and evaluate the curriculum, including schemes of work and teaching materials.
• Support and mentor colleagues, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
• Deliver high-quality lessons that reflect best practice in pedagogy and learning.
• Analyze performance data to improve student outcomes and departmental effectiveness.
• Contribute to extracurricular activities and the wider school community.
• Stay up to date with the latest developments in the AQA GCSE and A-Level Chemistry specifications.
• Promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and excellence throughout the department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• A degree in a relevant discipline and a recognised teaching qualification.
• Up-to-date knowledge of the 11-18 curriculum and educational best practices.
• Excellent understanding of the A Level Chemistry curriculum.
• Strong knowledge of pedagogical practice in Teaching and Learning.
• Proven ability to manage and lead a department.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of skill in managing student behaviour.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Preferred

• Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
• Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and engagement.
• Experience in leading extracurricular activities in Chemistry.
• Strong ICT skills with an understanding of how technology enhances teaching and learning.
