The Opportunity:
As a Chemistry Subject Leader, you will play a key role in shaping the department’s future and inspiring students to achieve excellence in Chemistry. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator to lead and innovate in a high-performing school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Chemistry department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Inspire and motivate students across all key stages, from KS3 to KS5.
- Manage and evaluate the curriculum, including schemes of work and teaching materials.
- Support and mentor colleagues, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
- Deliver high-quality lessons that reflect best practice in pedagogy and learning.
- Analyze performance data to improve student outcomes and departmental effectiveness.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities and the wider school community.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in the AQA GCSE and A-Level Chemistry specifications.
- Promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and excellence throughout the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A degree in a relevant discipline and a recognised teaching qualification.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the 11-18 curriculum and educational best practices.
- Excellent understanding of the A Level Chemistry curriculum.
- Strong knowledge of pedagogical practice in Teaching and Learning.
- Proven ability to manage and lead a department.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of skill in managing student behaviour.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
- Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and engagement.
- Experience in leading extracurricular activities in Chemistry.
- Strong ICT skills with an understanding of how technology enhances teaching and learning.
- A passion for inspiring students and a commitment to safeguarding and well-being.
