The Opportunity:
We are seeking an inspiring and passionate PE Subject Leader to lead a thriving department and drive excellence in physical education. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development and lead extracurricular activities that engage and motivate students from Key Stage 3 to Sixth Form.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the PE curriculum to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Manage and support a team of specialist PE teachers.
- Inspire and motivate students through engaging and varied lessons.
- Deliver high-quality GCSE and A-Level PE courses with excellent results.
- Organise and lead a wide range of extracurricular activities and fixtures.
- Contribute to the development of schemes of work and teaching materials.
- Analyse performance data to improve student outcomes.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture aligned with the school’s values.
- Support the school’s mission of academic excellence and student well-being.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A degree in a relevant discipline and a recognised teaching qualification.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the 11-18 curriculum and educational best practices.
- Strong pedagogical knowledge and classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students across all key stages.
- Strong organisational skills and self-motivation.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.
Preferred
- Experience in leading and managing a PE department.
- Experience with curriculum development and extra-curricular programme delivery.
- Experience with teaching GCSE and A-Level PE.
- Strong ICT skills and the ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning.
- Experience with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award or similar programmes.
