The Opportunity:

We are seeking an inspiring and passionate PE Subject Leader to lead a thriving department and drive excellence in physical education. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development and lead extracurricular activities that engage and motivate students from Key Stage 3 to Sixth Form.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the PE curriculum to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Manage and support a team of specialist PE teachers.
  • Inspire and motivate students through engaging and varied lessons.
  • Deliver high-quality GCSE and A-Level PE courses with excellent results.
  • Organise and lead a wide range of extracurricular activities and fixtures.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and teaching materials.
  • Analyse performance data to improve student outcomes.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture aligned with the school’s values.
  • Support the school’s mission of academic excellence and student well-being.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in a relevant discipline and a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the 11-18 curriculum and educational best practices.
  • Strong pedagogical knowledge and classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students across all key stages.
  • Strong organisational skills and self-motivation.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading and managing a PE department.
  • Experience with curriculum development and extra-curricular programme delivery.
  • Experience with teaching GCSE and A-Level PE.
  • Strong ICT skills and the ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Experience with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award or similar programmes.
