The Opportunity:

As a Child Protection Officer, you will play a vital role in safeguarding students and ensuring their wellbeing. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people and contribute to a supportive, collaborative team that prioritises student and staff safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead in managing safeguarding cases and ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Conduct regular safeguarding meetings and coordinate with internal and external agencies as needed.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to relevant authorities and keep detailed records of all safeguarding concerns.
  • Deliver safeguarding training and support to staff, students, and parents.
  • Attend and contribute to after-school or evening meetings as required, in line with agreed working hours.
  • Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed consistently and in line with legal and organisational requirements.
  • Work closely with other safeguarding team members to provide a cohesive and responsive support system for students.
  • Promote a culture of openness and trust, encouraging students to speak up about any concerns.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in education, social care, or youth work.
  • Strong understanding of child protection policies and procedures.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to handle complex and sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and after-school hours.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting, particularly in safeguarding roles.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
  • Experience with child protection training or qualifications in safeguarding.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children or young people.
