The Opportunity:

The Design and Technology Technician plays a vital role in supporting the school’s mission to inspire pupils through hands-on learning and innovation. This role ensures that workshops and facilities are safe, well-resourced, and equipped to deliver high-quality practical education. You will contribute to the smooth running of the department, supporting teachers and developing your own technical skills in digital manufacturing and specialist equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of practical lessons by preparing materials and organizing workshop spaces.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of tools, machinery, and specialist equipment.
  • Maintain and manage workshop and classroom environments to the highest standards.
  • Assist in the development of new resources and projects within the Design, Engineering & Technology department.
  • Collaborate with teachers to enhance the learning experience and support curriculum delivery.
  • Participate in co-curricular and departmental events that promote creativity and engineering.
  • Stay up to date with developments in digital manufacturing and technical innovation.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow health and safety protocols at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong practical skills in design, engineering, or technology.
  • Experience in a workshop or technical environment, ideally within education or industry.
  • Commitment to safe working practices and health and safety standards.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to support both academic and co-curricular activities.

Preferred

  • Experience with digital manufacturing tools and specialist equipment.
  • Background in education or a related field.
  • Early-career applicants with a strong interest in learning and development.
  • Experience in a large boarding or day school environment.
