The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain a wide range of science equipment and resources for practical experiments and teacher demonstrations.
  • Assist with the setup, conduct, and cleanup of science practicals and demonstrations.
  • Support students during science lessons and provide guidance where appropriate.
  • Maintain laboratory safety standards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with science teachers to develop and enhance practical learning experiences.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in the procurement and storage of science materials and supplies.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance technical and pedagogical skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Some laboratory experience or relevant qualifications in a science-related field.
  • Ability to work effectively in a secondary school environment with students and teachers.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards in a laboratory setting.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of science curriculum and practical teaching methods.
  • Previous training or experience in science technician roles.
  • Familiarity with modern science equipment and technology.
