Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, personalised education to children with Autism and complex needs.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans based on assessment and data analysis.
  • Use specialist communication systems such as PECS and Makaton to support student learning.
  • Manage challenging behaviours using effective strategies and positive behaviour support.
  • Collaborate with parents, staff, and professionals to support student well-being and progress.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching practices.
  • Maintain accurate records and regularly report on student progress and development.
  • Support the school’s mission and values, including “Respecting One Another.”

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs, including Autism.
  • Proven ability to teach in an inclusive environment and deliver a personalised curriculum.
  • Strong understanding of assessment techniques and data analysis.
  • Experience using specialist communication systems such as PECS and Makaton.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and professionals.
  • Commitment to professional development and reflective practice.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a special school, ARP, or mainstream setting with children with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of strategies for managing challenging behaviours.
  • Experience in developing individualised learning plans.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices and safeguarding procedures.
