The Opportunity:
A School Accountant is needed to provide essential financial support to the Bursar and Director of Operations. This role involves managing financial reporting, procedures, controls, and compliance, with a focus on management accounting, payroll, and pension administration. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining the school’s financial integrity and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the school’s financial reporting, procedures, and compliance.
- Support the Bursar and Director of Operations with accurate and timely financial information.
- Maintain and develop management accounting processes and systems.
- Administer payroll and pension schemes in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure financial controls are robust and up to date.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support financial planning and budgeting.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in management accounting, payroll, and pension administration.
- Strong knowledge of financial systems and IT tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Experience in an education or charity finance environment.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or similar educational institution.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of financial compliance and regulatory requirements.
