The Opportunity:

A Class Teacher is needed to support students with special needs and contribute to a dynamic, inclusive learning environment. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students with complex learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualized education to students with a primary diagnosis of ASD
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other staff to support student progress
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies tailored to student needs
  • Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe, positive learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance
  • Support the school’s mission to enable all young people to lead meaningful and enjoyable lives

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant teaching experience
  • Proven experience working in a special school environment
  • Significant experience working with children and young people with special needs, specifically ASC
  • Knowledge of meeting the needs of students with complex learning needs
  • Experience leading and managing a team of teaching assistants
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of the need for confidentiality
  • Familiarity with the educational processes and challenges in Birmingham
