As a Class Teacher (SEN), you will play a vital role in delivering education tailored to the individual needs of students with special educational needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, individualized teaching to students with special educational needs, particularly those with ASD.
- Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure a consistent and effective approach to student learning.
- Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) that reflect the unique needs and goals of each student.
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and other professionals to support student progress and well-being.
- Manage classroom environments that are inclusive, safe, and conducive to learning.
- Stay up to date with best practices in special education and apply them in daily teaching.
- Support the professional development of teaching assistants and other members of the team.
- Maintain accurate records and report on student progress regularly.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with valid QTS.
- Proven experience working in a special school environment, particularly with students with ASD.
- Significant experience working with children and young people with complex learning needs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of teaching assistants.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
Preferred
- Experience with a range of communication methods to support students with diverse needs.
- Familiarity with the unique processes and challenges in Birmingham.
- Knowledge of special educational needs legislation and best practice.
