Class Teacher - Maternity Cover. Support students with SEMH needs in a therapeutic learning environment.

The Opportunity:

As a Class Teacher - Maternity Cover, you will play a vital role in delivering person-centred learning to students with a range of individual needs. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, growing provision that values innovation, creativity, and therapeutic practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Monitor and review student progress, including social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with multi-professional teams to create therapeutic learning environments.
  • Support students in developing communication and oracy skills as part of a holistic curriculum.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure a positive, inclusive school community.
  • Contribute to the development of a bespoke curriculum aligned with national standards and EHCP outcomes.
  • Promote student wellbeing and encourage positive behaviour through consistent, supportive practice.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic approaches and person-centred practice.
  • Ability to design and deliver individualised learning plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a specialist provision or therapeutic environment.
  • Knowledge of the Skills Builder Framework and EHCP outcomes.
  • Experience with outdoor learning and experiential education.
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Experience in supporting students with autism or complex learning difficulties.
