The Opportunity:
As a school cook, you will play a vital role in providing nutritious, balanced meals that meet the specific dietary needs of students and staff. This is an opportunity to work in a supportive and inclusive environment, contributing to the well-being and development of students with autism and learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and cook fresh, well-balanced meals that meet the dietary requirements and preferences of pupils and staff
- Collaborate with special education staff to develop menus that accommodate individual sensory needs and dietary restrictions
- Ensure all meals are prepared and served in accordance with food safety regulations and best practices
- Maintain accurate records in line with health and safety policies
- Manage stock levels and ensure all food is stored and handled correctly
- Ensure the kitchen and associated areas are kept to a high standard of hygiene
- Foster a positive and inclusive dining experience for pupils during mealtimes
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Level 2 certificate in Food
- Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering
- Valid food hygiene certificate
- Experience in a school or similar catering environment
Preferred
- Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs
- Experience in menu planning and food service
- Strong communication and team management skills
