The Opportunity:

As a school cook, you will play a vital role in providing nutritious, balanced meals that meet the specific dietary needs of students and staff. This is an opportunity to work in a supportive and inclusive environment, contributing to the well-being and development of students with autism and learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and cook fresh, well-balanced meals that meet the dietary requirements and preferences of pupils and staff
  • Collaborate with special education staff to develop menus that accommodate individual sensory needs and dietary restrictions
  • Ensure all meals are prepared and served in accordance with food safety regulations and best practices
  • Maintain accurate records in line with health and safety policies
  • Manage stock levels and ensure all food is stored and handled correctly
  • Ensure the kitchen and associated areas are kept to a high standard of hygiene
  • Foster a positive and inclusive dining experience for pupils during mealtimes

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 2 certificate in Food
  • Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering
  • Valid food hygiene certificate
  • Experience in a school or similar catering environment

Preferred

  • Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs
  • Experience in menu planning and food service
  • Strong communication and team management skills
