The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Classics Teacher to join a dynamic and successful department. The role involves teaching Classical Civilisation and Latin, with opportunities to contribute to a thriving enrichment programme that includes educational trips, societies, and guest speakers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons in Classical Civilisation and Latin to students across all key stages.
  • Develop and maintain a strong academic record, with a focus on achieving high exam results.
  • Support the delivery of the Cambridge Latin course to Lower School students.
  • Contribute to the successful introduction and ongoing development of Classical Civilisation A Level.
  • Encourage and support students in extracurricular activities, including the Classics Society and educational trips.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the department's teaching and learning strategies.
  • Provide tutorial-style teaching in small group settings for Latin A Level students.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum developments and exam board requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching Classical Civilisation and Latin.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Classics, with a clear understanding of both GCSE and A Level curricula.
  • Proven track record of achieving high exam results.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to engage and inspire students of all abilities.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Eduqas and OCR exam boards.
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge Latin course.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to extracurricular activities related to Classics.
  • Interest in developing and expanding the Classics department’s offerings.
