The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to support teaching and learning during short-term absences. This role involves assisting with lesson planning, delivery, and assessment, ensuring that all students continue to access quality learning. It also includes contributing to subject departments and inclusion initiatives, making a meaningful impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Support identified subject departments by working with groups of pupils, individuals, or developing resources.
  • Contribute to lesson planning, delivery, and assessment under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Communicate effectively with teaching and senior staff to ensure alignment with school objectives.
  • Assist in the implementation of school policies and procedures.
  • Promote the school’s values and ethos through positive interactions with students.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a classroom or educational setting, preferably with knowledge of curriculum delivery.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a term-time only role.
  • Willingness to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or learning support roles.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices.
  • Experience with curriculum development or resource creation.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational partnership.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary in line with NJC Band E (Point 7-11).
  • Term-time only, 30 hours and 25 minutes per week.
