The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning for students by delivering pre-planned lessons during the short-term absence of teaching staff. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a classroom environment and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering engaging, pre-set lessons to whole classes
  • Managing classroom behaviour to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
  • Assessing student progress during cover lessons and updating records as required
  • Supporting students across a range of subjects and activities
  • Supporting curriculum areas and pastoral teams when not covering lessons
  • Providing additional support to curriculum and pastoral teams
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding and welfare policies
  • Maintaining a positive and professional relationship with students and colleagues

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Experience working with or caring for children or young people
  • Understanding of the national curriculum and basic learning strategies
  • A calm, adaptable and positive approach to managing student behaviour

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or education support roles
  • Familiarity with classroom management techniques
  • Experience with curriculum planning and delivery
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
