The Opportunity:

A Curriculum Leader Design Technology is needed to lead and inspire a dedicated team in a well-resourced department. This role offers the chance to shape the curriculum and support student learning across a range of subjects, from GCSE to Sixth Form. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design technology curriculum, ensuring it meets the highest standards.
  • Support and mentor colleagues within the department to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons across a range of subjects, including product design, engineering, and electronics.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and opportunities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support and feedback.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s strategic vision for design technology and engineering.
  • Participate in professional development and share best practices with the wider school community.
  • Ensure that facilities and resources are used effectively to support teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in design technology or engineering.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in design technology, product design, engineering, or electronics.
  • Experience of teaching across a range of abilities and age groups.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience of leading curriculum development or innovation in design technology.
  • Familiarity with teaching food preparation and nutrition.
  • Experience in GCSE and A-level teaching.
  • Experience in a high-performing school or similar setting.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
