The Opportunity:
As a History Subject Leader, you will play a key role in curriculum development and the enhancement of pupil outcomes. This is an opportunity to lead by example, support colleagues, and drive excellence in teaching and learning within the subject.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the implementation and sequencing of the curriculum to ensure a spiral of knowledge that supports pupil progress.
- Adapt and refine existing schemes of work and assessment frameworks to maintain high-quality, compliant, and intellectually challenging resources.
- Organise subject-specific moderation exercises to ensure internal assessment data reflects pupil performance accurately.
- Conduct regular work scrutinies and provide feedback to senior leadership on curriculum impact.
- Support the administration of exam board requirements with accuracy and compliance.
- Integrate school-wide literacy and numeracy strategies through expert delivery in your subject area.
- Contribute to the Departmental Improvement Plan by providing specialist feedback and leading classroom-based projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in history education.
- Strong subject knowledge and a proven track record in curriculum development.
- Experience in leading and mentoring colleagues within a school setting.
- Ability to monitor and report on pupil progress and attainment.
- Commitment to safeguarding and compliance with school policies and procedures.
Preferred
- Experience in developing and delivering CPD sessions for colleagues.
- Familiarity with the Framework for Great Teaching and its application in curriculum design.
- Experience in leading subject-specific events or competitions.
- Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
