Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the implementation and sequencing of the geography curriculum, ensuring a spiral of knowledge that supports pupil progress.
- Adapt and refine existing schemes of work and assessment frameworks to ensure they remain high-quality and compliant.
- Maintain a bank of subject-specific resources aligned with the ‘Framework for Great Teaching’.
- Conduct moderation exercises and work scrutinies to ensure assessment data accurately reflects pupil performance.
- Support the administration of exam board requirements and ensure compliance with school processes.
- Integrate school-wide literacy and numeracy strategies into your teaching practice.
- Contribute to the Departmental Improvement Plan through specialist feedback and classroom-based projects.
- Monitor pupil progress, identify trends, and report findings to SLT.
- Implement intervention strategies and track their impact on student outcomes.
- Coordinate subject-specific clubs and events to enhance student engagement and cultural capital.
- Provide expert pedagogical modelling for colleagues, ECTs, and non-specialists.
- Share subject-specific resources and support new staff with induction materials.
- Lead subject-specific events to raise the profile of the subject within the school.
- Support the options process by providing advice to pupils and parents.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Geography.
- Proven ability to lead and support curriculum development.
- Strong understanding of assessment and moderation processes.
- Experience in monitoring and reporting on pupil progress.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and compliance with school policies.
Preferred
- Experience in staff development and mentoring.
- Familiarity with school-wide literacy and numeracy strategies.
- Experience in leading subject-specific events or competitions.
- Background in multi-faith or faith-based education.
