The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Curriculum Leader for English to lead and inspire a department committed to excellence in teaching and learning. This role is central to ensuring the continued growth and impact of the English curriculum, supporting students to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English curriculum, ensuring it remains innovative and aligned with best practices.
  • Support and mentor teachers to enhance teaching quality and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the English department to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-curricular themes and real-world applications.
  • Promote a culture of professional development and teamwork within the department.
  • Ensure the curriculum meets the needs of all students, including those with diverse learning requirements.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Curriculum Leader or senior teacher in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department with a focus on student achievement.
  • Strong knowledge of current educational trends and curriculum developments in English.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a STEM-specialist or mixed-gender school setting.
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices and student-centered learning.
  • Experience with curriculum design and assessment strategies.
  • Background in school leadership or management.
