The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering a dynamic and differentiated curriculum tailored to the needs of students with complex needs and neurodiversity. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive and innovative educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver an engaging and differentiated English (Language & Literature) curriculum tailored to the needs of students with SEND.
  • Support students in achieving their Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) targets and personal aspirations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide therapeutic and holistic support for students.
  • Promote emotional regulation and positive relationships through calm and de-escalating responses.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with Autism and SEMH.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Curriculum, Key Stage requirements, and SEND Code of Practice.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support learning and development.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching practices and student outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher (QTS or QTLS) with a specialism in English.
  • Experience of supporting neurodiverse children with SEND, including those with ASC and/or SEMH.
  • Recent, proven experience as an outstanding English teacher with a demonstrable track record of improving learning outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of the National Curriculum, KS requirements, and the Code of Practice for SEND.
  • Ability to offer a calm, de-escalating response to pupils with complex needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to a range of audiences.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in therapeutic education or working in a specialist setting for students with SEND.
  • Knowledge of Functional Skills, GCSE, and A Level qualifications.
  • Experience in developing and implementing individualised learning plans.
