The Opportunity:

We are seeking an English Teacher with Literacy Responsibility to play a key role in delivering a high-quality English curriculum and leading literacy initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a full English curriculum at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 with a focus on academic excellence and student engagement.
  • Lead and develop literacy strategies, including targeted reading interventions to support student progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and high-quality approach to teaching and learning across the school.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in staff development and training opportunities to enhance teaching practice and professional growth.
  • Engage with parents and the wider community to promote the school's vision and support student achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and initiatives that enhance student outcomes and wellbeing.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with QTS or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching English at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Strong knowledge of literacy development and reading intervention strategies.
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching and student wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading literacy initiatives or curriculum development.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TEFL) or similar qualifications.
  • Familiarity with Ark’s training and development programmes.
  • Experience working in a high-performing school or academy setting.
