The Opportunity:
As the Head of English, you will lead a successful department and play a key role in shaping the academic and personal development of students. This is an opportunity to influence curriculum delivery, support teacher development, and drive student success in a thriving educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and coordinate the English curriculum across all key stages.
- Lead collaborative planning and resource sharing within the department.
- Monitor and support student progress, ensuring achievement in line with value-added predictions.
- Develop and deliver effective schemes of work and enrichment programmes.
- Identify and support students with individual learning needs through tailored teaching strategies.
- Promote a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Support the professional development of department members and manage team performance.
- Ensure the successful delivery of Ark Mastery English curriculum with appropriate adaptations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in designing and delivering effective schemes of work and enrichment programmes.
- Experience in leading a department and driving improvements in teaching and learning.
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience in supporting team performance.
- Excellent behaviour management and the ability to motivate learners of all abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to improve student outcomes and support individual learning needs.
Preferred
- Experience within the Ark Mastery English curriculum.
- Background in secondary school leadership and curriculum development.
- Experience in professional development planning and delivery.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
