Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a high-quality science curriculum aligned with national standards and the school’s strategic goals.
- Lead and support science staff through professional development, mentoring, and collaborative planning.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform teaching strategies and curriculum improvements.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the science department.
- Work closely with senior leadership to ensure alignment with school-wide priorities and initiatives.
- Promote student engagement and achievement through effective teaching and learning practices.
- Ensure the science department maintains high standards of teaching and learning, with a focus on inclusivity and equity.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and enhance student learning experiences.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, preferably in science.
- Strong subject knowledge in science, with the ability to lead curriculum development.
- Experience in driving academic improvement and leading teams of teachers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
- Knowledge of current science education research and best practices.
- Experience in developing and delivering professional development programs for teachers.
- Familiarity with assessment and data analysis tools to support curriculum evaluation.
