The Opportunity:

As a Visual Arts Director, you will lead and shape the visual arts curriculum across multiple academies, ensuring a knowledge-rich and engaging learning experience for all students. This role is central to driving excellence in the arts and inspiring a passion for creativity in young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a high-quality, knowledge-rich visual arts curriculum across all academies.
  • Collaborate with subject leads and senior leaders to evaluate and enhance curriculum quality.
  • Build subject expertise and support staff development in visual arts.
  • Increase participation and achievement in visual arts across the trust.
  • Deliver a robust enrichment program that supports student engagement and creativity.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align visual arts initiatives with the trust’s educational goals.
  • Promote a culture of inclusivity and innovation in the arts.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of visual arts programs on student outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a visual arts or related subject area.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum design and delivery in visual arts.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team of educators.
  • Ability to evaluate and improve educational programs and outcomes.
  • Commitment to raising student achievement and participation in the arts.

Preferred

  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
  • Background in teacher training or professional development.
  • Experience with inclusive education and supporting diverse student needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies in the arts.
