The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Director of Finance, you will play a key role in shaping the financial strategy of a large, high-performing Multi Academy Trust. This is a senior leadership position where your expertise will ensure strong financial management, compliance, and reporting across the Trust, enabling sustainable investment in educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the Trust’s financial operations, compliance, and reporting processes.
  • Support the Chief Finance & Operations Officer (CFOO) in developing and implementing long-term financial strategies.
  • Ensure financial resilience and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to leaders across the Trust in making informed, sustainable financial decisions.
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance to identify areas for improvement and investment.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align financial planning with the Trust’s strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial governance frameworks across the organisation.
  • Lead and manage a team of finance professionals to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role within a large organisation or Multi Academy Trust.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, compliance, and reporting in the education sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic financial plans.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Experience in working within a not-for-profit or educational organisation.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Multi Academy Trust or similar educational organisation.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and software used in the education sector.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and across the organisation.
