The Opportunity:

As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting science teaching and enhancing student learning through practical engagement. This is an ideal role for someone with strong organisational skills and a passion for science education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain science equipment and laboratories for practical classes.
  • Assist teachers with demonstrations and experiments.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of all science resources.
  • Support the development of practical skills in students through hands-on learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory.
  • Collaborate with science staff to improve the quality of science teaching.
  • Undertake further training to enhance technical and pedagogical skills.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of science departments across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous practical experience in a technical or scientific context.
  • A good standard of general education.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of science laboratory safety procedures.
  • Experience with science equipment and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with teaching and learning in a science environment.
  • Willingness to undertake further training relevant to the role.
