The Opportunity:
As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting science teaching and enhancing student learning through practical engagement. This is an ideal role for someone with strong organisational skills and a passion for science education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain science equipment and laboratories for practical classes.
- Assist teachers with demonstrations and experiments.
- Ensure the safe and effective use of all science resources.
- Support the development of practical skills in students through hands-on learning.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory.
- Collaborate with science staff to improve the quality of science teaching.
- Undertake further training to enhance technical and pedagogical skills.
- Contribute to the smooth running of science departments across the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Previous practical experience in a technical or scientific context.
- A good standard of general education.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of science laboratory safety procedures.
- Experience with science equipment and maintenance.
- Familiarity with teaching and learning in a science environment.
- Willingness to undertake further training relevant to the role.
