The Opportunity:
As the Director of IT Operations, you will lead the digital transformation of a large and diverse trust, ensuring robust, secure, and future-ready IT systems that support teaching, learning, and data-driven improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering a strategic IT plan across a large multi-academy trust, ensuring systems are resilient, secure, and future proof.
- Leading IT teams and managing service providers, embedding best practice in operations, compliance, and cybersecurity.
- Shaping digital transformation initiatives, including cloud-first strategies and onboarding new academies.
- Influencing at senior leadership level, aligning IT strategy with the school’s vision and educational goals.
- Developing career pathways for IT staff, fostering innovation and leadership within the team.
- Managing large-scale projects that drive efficiency and enhance the digital infrastructure of the trust.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience managing IT operations in a UK sector environment (education or regulated sector preferred).
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.
- Experience managing service providers and IT teams.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills for senior stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and people management abilities.
Preferred
- Experience in digital transformation and large-scale IT projects.
- Background in educational technology and innovation.
- Familiarity with data analytics and its application in education.
