Summary:

Deputy Director of Learning - Technical for a rapidly improving secondary school in Rochdale.

The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Director of Learning - Technical, you will lead the development of the Computer Science curriculum and support the school’s mission to inspire the next generation of leaders. This is a key leadership role with a strong focus on improving pupil outcomes and driving academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Computer Science faculty to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of all learners and aligns with the school’s leadership specialism.
  • Support and coach teachers to improve practice and raise attainment across the faculty.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil progress, identifying areas for development and intervention.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape school-wide strategies for academic improvement.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and creativity in teaching and learning.
  • Represent the school in external networks and partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and school policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree-level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Ability to teach Computer Science to GCSE standard.
  • Proven experience in leading a faculty and driving improvements in pupil outcomes.
  • Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues to achieve targets.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading curriculum development in a technical subject.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Background in leadership training or professional development.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
