Summary:

Deputy Director of Learning - Mathematics to lead and inspire in a high-achieving school.

The Opportunity:

As the Deputy Director of Learning - Mathematics, you will play a key role in driving academic excellence and raising standards in mathematics. This is a leadership position that offers the opportunity to shape curriculum development, support teachers, and make a real difference to student outcomes in a rapidly improving school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the mathematics department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement an innovative and engaging mathematics curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff to improve practice and raise attainment across the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure consistent improvement and achievement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development for teachers and support staff.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure effective use of resources and assessment strategies.
  • Engage with students, parents, and the wider community to promote the school’s vision and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree-level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Ability to teach to GCSE standard.
  • Proven experience in leading a faculty and improving student outcomes.
  • Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues to achieve targets.
  • Background in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Experience with leadership programmes or character development initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Star Academies’ values and mission.
